70th post-Friends are like Sidewalk Chalk

Hello!

Wow! 70 thoughts and comments.... I guess the blog is aptly named :)

Soo I was at work the other day .. doing my job ... when I happen across some children drawing their colorful masterpieces on the pavement .. as I stopped to admire all the stick figures and crazy squares and spheres, the colorful expression that was a visual to their imagination...... a thought popped in my mind....

A bit of symbolisim perhaps as I let the idea grow in my mind .. if we, as idividuals were the
pavement ... were strong.. we can be firm ... dependable ... and occasionally we crack up a bit ..
If we .. are the pavement then all our friends who effect our life.. would be the sidewalk chalk.
Single colorful lines that blend and compliment one another until the cement is a bonified piece
of artistic beauty! Alone were all pretty nice .. but when we let friends in to brighten our canvas.. thats when we really start to see the beauty in who we are ! Just my silly rambling thought. I hope wherever your day finds you as you read this blog ... theres been an abundance of color on your pavement :)

Reds and Yellows.. Greens and Blues
friendship bears such special hues
color my world with your special touch
brighten my existance, very much

visuals etched for all to gain
proudly displayed , until the first rain
Purples, Orange, Brown and White
my colorful friends, make life allright :))

Picaholic

Hello my name is Rosa ...it has been roughly two weeks since my last blog post. *hangs head*

Hello my name is Rosa and I am a picaholic.....

We all have our addictions in life .. some smoking, drinking, shopping.. even boots can be a addiction as we've all recently learned in Bax land.. but I would have to say my greatest addiction is pictures. Photographs, snapshots, paintings.. I am hopelessly drawn to this marvelous preservation of great times and happy memories.

In my home I have many photo albums claiming space in my closet, packed full of randomly taken photos! There are the family portrait shots .. a visual of the progressive changes of ones timeline, there are the scenic photos, these I find interesting to look at years later and see how the land has changed, and then there are the goofy photos.. those quick candids taken in the spur of the moment that never fail to make you laugh when seen no matter how much time passes by.

In the realm of Second Life ... for as long as I've been a resident I have happily indulged my addiction to photographs.. my first year in world Id easily spend more than half my weekly stipened on snapshot uploads.!! I learned putting them on harddrive was less costly to my inworld bank balance but quickly took space on my hard drive . When Flicker was introduced to me .. I thought Id died and gone to heaven! A entire site soley for photographs?? What a fantabulous idea!! Having only a freebie account then I was limited to how many photos I could share. Then one special rezday a sweet cheesey girl and a man who loves his PI gave me one of the best gifts I'll ever receive.. a pro account on flicker! *swoons* The flood gates were opened and a treasure trove of stored photos were uploaded, shared, commented on and gave me the nicest thrill to share :) It was a good addiction fix :D and one I admit today I delight in daily.

I dont know what exactly it is about photographs that I find so appealing, perhaps its knowing I've captured a moment of happiness that can be forever remembered, perhaps its preserving the faces of those close to my life, photos of Dad still comfort me at times, perhaps its simply more selfish and I just like to enjoy taking the photos. Whatever it is .. I'm happy to say .. I'm a picaholic.

Todays Poem one I think I've posted before but suits todays blog topic perfectly.

Photograph:

A tiny box
you hold in your hand
a device which to capture
the face of a man

It stops time
and suspends it forever
small square memories
for generations to treasure

Capture beautiful sunsets
gorgeous mountains and trees
or some of God's other creations
perhaps you , or maybe me

Is it a comfort
for us sentimental types
there is a way
to preserve memories of life

For the next time there's a memory
that you've just got to have
click the button on your tiny box
and remember it always in your
Photograph.
